I can relate to the moments of clarity you refer to, being in the same position. I think sometimes the fact that you've been laid off can feel like this giant "thing" that dominates the situation entirely. But if you look at it as a time that is truly fascinating, because we're each one very very minute part of an upheaval that's going on throughout the world, you can shift your focus and see things with, as you say, more clarity.
